This is a painting adaptation of a wonderful picture from The Northern Echo from the 1960’s. The piece displays the now demolished South Terrace to the rear of upper Newgate Street to the Back of The Mitre Pub. Children in their innocence and youth before play stations, mobile phones and when cars took over the streets. It the far left corner there once was a banana factory called Fyfes where my Dad once worked in the early 70’s.
